    • On April 22, 2024, Year 12 students organised a remarkable Earth Day event as part of their ‘Creativity Activity Service’ project. This event brought together the entire school community, including parents, ECE, primary and secondary student to raise awareness about climate change and inspire collective action.

Earth Day is a global event celebrated on April 22nd to promote environmental awareness. This year, we held this event at our school to highlight the importance of taking action to protect the Earth.

John, a Year 12 student, said "The Earth Day event sparks a change within the school community, raising awareness of climate change, and inspiring community involvement. It's a chance for me to lead by example, showing others how small, collective actions can make a significant impact on our planet."

Jimin, another Year 12 student highlighted the most significant issue we faced: "The Earth Day event did not proceed as smoothly as anticipated; despite the difficulties, we managed to conclude the event successfully, owing to the enthusiasm exhibited by all Year 12 students, as well as the invaluable contributions made by numerous teachers from the ECE, primary, and secondary departments."

And Year 12 Pearly said: “I am proud of our efforts and hope that celebrating Earth Day will become an annual event for our school…I believe this experience enriched our leadership abilities and gave us motivation to create more events in the future with our improved skills to continue raising awareness in our community, striving towards becoming the global citizens our school pushes us to be."

The process of organizing this event offered us valuable lessons. Our student team realised the importance of thorough planning, considering many variables to ensure smooth execution. Effective communication among students, teachers, and staff played a significant role in the event's success. This event not only reinforced the importance of protecting the environment among the students but also provided us with an opportunity to learn together as a community through increased collaboration.
