Public speaking is an essential life skill which helps people develop important communication and critical thinking skills, boosts confidence and helps with career advancement. At YCIS Chongqing, we encourage our students to be risk takers and share their unique talents and gifts.

This spring, Primary School held its annual Public Speaking Contest. After a very competitive Learning Community competition, the students took to the stage in the auditorium to share their stories and deliver powerful messages. The first-place winner of the contest was chosen to represent YCIS Chongqing to compete in YCYW Organization-Wide Speech Competition.

Students worked extremely hard to prepare for this event, using their own ideas, they wrote their own speech and worked tirelessly to perfect the art of communication.

Year 1 proudly told the audience about what they have learned about the solar system and what makes outer space so interesting.

Year 2 retold the story of the Tortoise and the Hare, creatively changing the plot and adding a new character.

Year 3 learned the power of persuasion and shared their brilliant ideas to create change.

Year 4 retold the story of Hercules, adding their own unique characters and plot twists.

Year 5 and Year 6 wowed us with their story telling ability and delivered powerful inspirational speeches.

Congratulations to the winners and all the students who participated. You have set a high standard for your peers, your school and yourself. We look forward to seeing you take the stage in the future.
