After a rigorous selection process, five of our most outstanding secondary students have been chosen to represent YCIS on an international stage!
About the Competition
This year’s competition is themed "ESG Practices Around Me: Building a Sustainable Future." It serves as a dynamic platform to inspire young minds to develop innovative solutions that address key challenges in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG).
Participants will explore and showcase impactful ESG initiatives in their communities or industries—ranging from local sustainability projects to cutting-edge governance models—demonstrating how ESG principles can drive positive change.
Let’s take a closer look at how our students are bringing ESG to life through their innovative ideas and real-world projects.
Nathaniel Lynch (Year 7)
"Visiting Kenya in December 2022 and seeing the last two northern white rhinos inspired me to enter the ESG competition and raise awareness about endangered species. SDG Goal 15—Life on Land—reminds us of our responsibility to protect wildlife and their habitats."
Leo Yeung (Year 10)
"The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) address global challenges while promoting sustainability. My essay focuses on SDG 11—Sustainable Cities and Communities—exploring how individuals and communities can contribute to a greener future."
Wendy Meng (Year 7)
"I joined the ESG competition because I deeply care about the environment. Whether at school or in daily life, I strive to protect it and promote environmental preservation."
Ryan Chen (Year 10)
"As we move toward a greener future, SDGs guide sustainable development. My project aligns with SDG 7—Clean and Affordable Energy—focusing on improving access to renewable energy for local and global communities."
Yuly Liu (Year 11)
"Governments play a key role in sustainability through policies and awareness campaigns. The ESG competition empowers young people to tackle real-world challenges and develop solutions for a more sustainable future."
This is a great chance for our students to excel in sustainability, innovation, and leadership. We're excited to see their success and cheer them on as they take on this global challenge and make YCIS proud! Stay tuned for more updates!
