YCIS Chongqing proudly unveiled its first-ever UK-Somerset Cultural Winter Programme—an exciting 15-day adventure packed with cultural exploration and heritage discovery.
This year, a select group of primary and secondary students embarked on an unforgettable field trip to the UK. Despite the chilly weather, their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn shone brightly.
For more than ten memorable days, the students resided at Knowle Hall, the YCYW Somerset Culture Centre, immersing themselves in local customs while dining, studying, and living like the British.
Their itinerary included visits to iconic cities such as Bath, Bristol, Oxford, and London, where history and modernity beautifully converged, and three days experience in a local school. This journey is not just sightseeing, but a deep exploration of culture and language, and also an adventure where they travel overseas on their own. Stepping beyond their comfort zones proved challenging, yet our students embraced the experience wholeheartedly.
They were captivated by guided tours of Wells Cathedral, the British Museum, and the SS Great Britain Museum, feeling history beneath their feet. They also explored the storied campus of the University of Oxford, a magical tour to Harry Potter Studio, and enjoyed the spectacle of Mamma Mia! along with exciting karting races.
The UK-Somerset Cultural Winter Programme provided our students with a transformative experience, leaving them with memories, new skills, and insights that will resonate for years to come. We eagerly anticipate welcoming more students to embark on this incredible journey in the future!
