    • With the growing expectations for improved student performance, better teaching practice and closing the achievement gap, an effective professional development program becomes an essential part of our school’s improvement effort. Continuous Professional Development is essential to ensure that we prepare our students for the challenges of the future.

YCIS Chongqing provides all teaching staff with a yearly budget for professional development, which gives opportunities for teachers to attend workshops, conferences, and seminars and enables educators to develop the knowledge and skills they need to address students’ learning challenges.

The primary music department attended the intensive workshop held by Musical Futures in January this year. The workshop was organized specifically for Primary music specialists to support teachers with resources to deliver practical, engaging, developmental music programs in the classroom.

As you can witness (photos), resources shared during the workshop, are now effectively being used with Y6 classes exploring our Ukulele from the Beginning unit. The resources contain PPTs for various topics, background music in different styles as well as visuals to use in students’ learning. These resources create a comprehensive and enjoyable ways to master the ukulele.
