    • On November 28 to 29, YCIS Chongqing students were treated to live performances from the White Horse Theatre Group who brought us several wonderful plays called Googie, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Drinking for Dummies, Lizzie and the Pirate, and Fear in the Forest.

In addition to the performances, workshops were also conducted. The children learned to use drama techniques to explore together the themes of a play or a situation, under the guidance of experienced workshop-leaders.

There are so many skills that people can gain from acting! Public speaking, presenting oneself, memorization, time management, characterization, body language, vocal control, these skills can be used in all areas of life, and the use of drama allows teachers to teach students through games, so that students are so engaged that they don’t’ even notice they are “studying”!

It was apparent from the very start of the performances that not only the children but also all the teachers thoroughly enjoyed the plays and the workshops. For many children this was the first time they were attending a live theatre show! From the expression on the children’s faces you could tell that they were completely engaged and captivated by the story almost feeling like they were part of it.

We are all eagerly looking forward to experience more and more experimental classes taking place in the future!
