    • Language Week has been an exciting time for the entire YCIS community. A time where students, teachers and parents have joined together to celebrate language. Students from ECE to Year 13 have engaged in a range of stimulating and creative activities that enhance their understanding of language and culture in all its forms.

In Primary, activities have included students sharing greetings and words in their own languages, exploring and performing nursery rhymes and poems, writing letters to a pen pal overseas, sharing stories in different languages and creating a video to showcase these stories. Some students have been learning sign language while others leading workshops in their language. Other students have also been working hard to write and perform their stories in small groups and looking towards having these stories published.

Teachers and our lovely parents have also been involved by volunteering their time to be Mystery Readers for other classes, sharing stories in their language and doing some exciting storytelling through visuals, actions and sounds.

In Secondary, English, Chinese and Korean classes have explored the language of family and love. Our IBDP students took the opportunity to discuss linguistic dominance in our world along with language and gender, where others explored translations and the nuances of each language.

The activities and focus the entire Language Week allowed students to create and display their work during our exhibition on Friday afternoon. With variety and imagination, many of these displays gave our audience a peak into the worlds of different cultures and languages recognized by our students here at YCIS Chongqing.

Thank you to the entire community for your support and cooperation in making our first Language Week a success!
