    • “The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance.” -- Aristotle

The Visual Arts play a prominent role in children’s education and gives them numerous opportunities for creative expression. The Arts are viewed as a form of expression that is inherent in all cultures, a powerful means to assist in the development of the whole child and important for interpreting and understanding the world.

At YCIS Chongqing, we encourage students to enjoy, appreciate, and create art. In this years’ art class, students will look at and talk about major works/styles of art, as well as create their own masterpieces using the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design, and learn about different techniques, mediums, and art history.

Our Artist-in-Residence (AIR) Programme provides our students with the opportunity to interact with professional working artists on campus. Students are able to learn about the dynamic art scene in China and worldwide, and develop creatively by learning techniques directly from these artists.

The annual Art Exhibition held at campus provides great opportunity for our students to display their talent and creativities, and learn from each other. The exhibition consisted of a wide range of work and activities across all media taught in Art classes including sketching, painting, drawing, paper crafts, and sculpture.

YCIS art programme emphasizes intellectual challenge, encouraging students to make connections between their studies in other subjects and the real world. It fosters the development of skills for communication, intercultural understanding and global engagement, essential qualities for young people who are becoming global leaders.
