    • On May 15 to19, YCIS Chongqing held our annual Anti-Bullying Week. The week kicked off with assemblies in primary and secondary where our students were introduced to this year’s theme: ‘Power for Good’ and the concept of the ‘Bystander Effect’. Each member of our school community received a ‘Pink Power Band’ and pledged to use their power for good to help eliminate bullying everywhere.

Throughout the week, students in primary participated in bully awareness activities with their classmates while students in secondary engaged in extended research and feedback activities aimed at fleshing out a deeper understanding of the themes and topics discussed at the opening assembly. Several groups in secondary, as well as the Primary Student Council, created videos to share with the YCIS community. Year 6 put together a fantastic collage of their artwork while Year13 did a fantastic job of creating our Power for Good sign-off banner.

Students participated in Pink Shirt Day on Friday, and we also held our closing assembly for the week. We were very pleased to see how many staff and students showed their support by wearing pink and taking the time to sign a pledge to use their Power for Good.

We shared several of the anti-bullying videos and work from students, and the obvious engagement of the entire student body was reflected in the quality and sincerity of the work produced. We look forward to more student safety and wellness initiatives in the future.

Thanks to members of the Parent Organization who joined the assemblies and signed off on our Power for Good.
