    • Every artist will agree that the less you have available to you, the more creative you have to be and THINK. This has certainly been true for our YCIS Chongqing students from Year 1-6 in Art e-learning this Semester. With a few simple things at hand such as paper, pencils, markers and recycled materials there have been endless possibilities! Everyday objects that are close at hand such as chopsticks, tin foil and take away boxes can be turned into masterpieces.

Students were taught some basic principles of drawing and design simply with pencil work across Primary. Some abstract principles of design were also implemented so that students could focus their drawing skills on things like shape, line, form and composition.

Some new techniques were also taught such as pointillism and engraving. Our students also had lots of fun with The Year of the Rat by creating cute mice eating 3-D objects which brought much joy and laughter to both students and teachers. A collaborative craft project was incorporated for all Year 1-6 students to make a mouse from a toilet roll to bring back to school for a mass display when we all see each other again soon on campus.
