Last Monday on February 24th, our Year 4 students ventured on an exhilarating educational expedition to the Taojia Wastewater Treatment Plant in Jiulongpo, Chongqing. This adventure was part of their exploration into "Responsible Global Citizenship," a theme that is igniting curiosity and fostering a sense of responsibility in our young learners.
Despite the chilly weather, the students' excitement was palpable. They watched in awe as wastewater, initially a murky, uninviting liquid, underwent a series of intricate processes to emerge as clean, safe water. It was like watching magic unfold, with science and technology as the wands.
The staff at the treatment plant were nothing short of amazing. They meticulously explained each step of the treatment process, transforming complex information into easily digestible knowledge. When the students posed questions like "How are impurities removed from the wastewater?" and "Is the treated water safe to drink?", staff answered with enthusiasm, turning each query into a learning moment.
This hands-on experience was a real-world classroom where students deepened their understanding of wastewater treatment technology and the critical importance of environmental protection. The students left with a wealth of knowledge and a renewed appreciation for the environment, proving that learning can happen anywhere.
We could not be prouder of our Year 4 students and their insatiable thirst for knowledge. As a school, we're committed to providing more opportunities for our students that not only expand their academic horizons but also nurture their sense of social responsibility and scientific curiosity. Stay tuned for more adventures!
