In just its second year, the Seeds of Hope Fund has become a powerful engine of student-driven impact at YCIS Chongqing. Supported by the school and Parent organisation, the grant has invested RMB 110,000+ into 10 student-led projects, spanning every grade and passion—from mental health to sustainability, tech innovation to community care.
Highlights from this year:
1.Primary Garden
Led by Leroy Song Cao & Olivia Tan
Supervised by Mr. Stefan Eckhardt
Forty-degree heat? No problem. Students built planters from scratch, mixed compost, and watered them through summer vacation. The payoff: a bumper crop of tomatoes, eggplants, and a new understanding of “grit.”
2.Path of Kindness
Led by Arya Dincel & Jennie Son
Supervised by Ms. May Ren
A group of “wellness guardians” assembled feel-good kits, ran lunchtime mindfulness sessions, and spent Saturdays delivering the handcrafted gifts at the Children’s Hospital. Their motto: “Empathy is a muscle—use it or lose it.”
3.Print Pioneers: Phase 2
Led by Declan Dumbrill, Allen Wang, and Jasraj Singh
Supervised by Matt Pitchforth
From CCA club to full-blown Innovation Center. Need a science-fair prototype? Thirty minutes. Want a life-size 3-D “Yew Yew” mascot for the Primary and ECE? Done—and instantly promoted to class pet.
Next up: the 2025-2026 grant cycle opens soon. If you’ve got an idea that could make our community kinder, greener, or just cooler, bring it on. We’ll supply the funds, mentors, and real-world stage. You supply the dream.
