Over February 23 to 26, YCIS Chongqing took part in the second SCISAC tournament of the year.

The Volleyball Tournament was hosted by the Hong Kong Academy in Hong Kong and included five other international schools from Southern China (Hong Kong Academy (HKA), The International School of Macau, Ivy Collegiate Academy (ICA) in Taiwan, Xiamen International School (XIS) and Nanjing International School (NIS)). It once again proved to be a fantastic learning experience for players, coaches and all involved.

The tournament featured middle school athletes competing in at least 6 matches over a two-and-a-half-day period. The standard of play and competition was extremely high throughout the tournament with a number of nail biting matches taking place. By the end of the tournament, Nanjing International School (NIS) claimed the first place trophy in the boys' tournament, and the girls from the host school Hong Kong Academy (HKA) came out on top against a very competitive Xiamen International School girls' team.

The competition proved to be a tough for the YCIS Chongqing Boys team. For many players it was their first season playing Volleyball and for some only their second season. While losing a fair portion of their matches, the YCIS Boys team did themselves and their school proud. Despite a valiant effort, the YCIS Boys were unable to beat a strong HKA team who had home crowd advantage, but their spirit and teamwork during the match made YCIS proud.

The Girls' team did differently to previous years, however, and it was clear that the core group of experienced players made the difference. The girls team probably played their best match of the tournament against TIS for the 3rd and 4th place. With strong serves and excellent communication, the girls proved too strong for the TIS team. This would be the first trophy for a YCIS girls volleyball team.

Both the Boy's and Girl's teams showed great commitment to training and their spirit and determination made up for their lack in experience.

The tournament was an opportunity to play volleyball and compete against other international schools, but it was also a chance to build and establish new relationships and learn valuable life lessons. It is this that makes SCISAC such a fantastic group.
