Friday the 5th of June saw the passing of a most significant event at YCIS Chongqing, that of the class of the 2020 transitioning from students of the school to graduates of the school.
The annual graduation ceremony is a momentous occasion where students, staff, families and friends of the graduating class can gather together to celebrate and share the accomplishments of our Year 13s and learn of their plans for the future.
This year, due to the restrictions and circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic, we were in the unique situation of hosting the ceremony both on campus in the Great Hall and live streamed on Zoom. Although this was a change from the norm and perhaps what our graduates had long dreamt their final day on campus to be, it was certainly special to have friends and family from over 50 households around the world Zooming in to witness the conferral of diplomas and speeches and reflections from staff and students and our school leaders.
We are immensely proud of the graduating class of 2020 who have endured months of e-learning, the stress of IB exams being cancelled and ultimately the disappointment of not being able to gather all together one final time, but who have overcome this with humour, resilience and clear perspectives. We wish them well into the future and we remind the class of 2020 that they are always a part of the YCIS Chongqing community and we look forward to hearing of their successes and welcome them back to campus at any time.
Congratulations to the class of 2020.
