    • On May 31, 2019 YCIS Chongqing students and staff gathered together to celebrate our talents and share love with some special guests from XingLeShu school for our 2nd annual Celebrating Differences Day!

In the morning students from our visiting school were paired with a buddy from our Primary Student Council and Primary Student Leadership Team. Together they shared snacks and completed activities to celebrate the day and get to know their new friend.

Later our Year 6 students lead our special friends in a baking activity. They put their new skills in action and baked over 350 delicious shortbread cookies to share with the rest of our school community. Cookies were given to students across the school in the afternoon for completing five or more activity stations.

We also learned Friday that our YCIS Chongqing students and staff have many talents! Over 100 videos of students and staff sharing their talents were played throughout our afternoon activities. Some of the talents shared included singing, dancing, whistling, playing sports, instruments and even making a cup of delicious coffee! Students were able to enjoy the great weather while challenging themselves to try new activities such as KTV, handcrafts, Chinese Calligraphy, and dancing in the Silent Disco. Our ECE students even joined in with a special performance.

As Dr Seuss quoted “Why fit in when you were born to stand out?” It’s okay to be different! We are all unique with many different talents. Let’s remember to celebrate our talents and share love, not just today, but every day!
