Recently, K4 has been exploring the topic of toys. Before the topic, the teachers set up toy provocations and materials to observe how the children explored the toys.
Collaborate! Collaborate! Collaborate!
Working collaboratively during project work prepares students for modern citizenship and work, as most complex communal, social, and workplace problems are solved by groups, not individuals. Having students work together to achieve a goal helps them recognize the value of the contributions and perspectives of all team members and prepares them for life in the 21st century.
A Glance at the Revitalized YCIS Chongqing House System
YCIS Chongqing has long maintained a close-knit community feel, even as our enrolment numbers grow and our programs expand. We are proud of the opportunities we create to interact and learn with and from each other, be that cross-culturally or cross-aged. But we are always striving to improve in these areas – it’s what makes our campus such a special place.
Goldilocks and the Three Bears
Year 1 and Year 2 have been exploring the story Goldilocks and The Three Bears. Within Year 1, the children have learnt the story through actions. They have enjoyed exploring the character Goldilocks and have created WANTED posters which are up around school. The Year 2’s have had fun learning the story and have written their own version, by changing the characters.
Parent Teacher Interviews
YCIS Chongqing welcomed all parents at our first Parent Teacher interviews on Monday 23rd September. This was an opportunity for parents to meet new teachers, gain some insights to how their child(ren) has settled and understand the expectations for them, as parents, this year.

Meeting with Our New Staff
Mr. Ian Ward is from the UK with over 20 years’ experience in a variety of educational roles and responsibilities. He supported a number of schools to raise standards in teaching and learning, as well as inspecting schools, examining the quality of their education. Mr. Ward believes that the children should be at the heart of everything a school should do in order to provide every opportunity for them to be successful in as many ways as possible, not just academically, but to also make them great people and lifelong learners.
Celebrating Our New Students
Change is always hard, right? It’s normal to feel weird and different in a new place, and to miss your old friends. Then there’s having to learn a different school layout, feeling nervous about talking to new people and being drained from adjusting to all this new stuff.
