    It’s not difficult to admit that the 2018 International Food Festival was a rousing success! Enjoyed by both students, teachers and staff. Everyone could be seen sampling the many multicultural dishes and company. Smiles, laughter and of course the word “yum” could be heard everywhere, in several different languages.

  • Year 6 Trip to Chongqing Normal University Children’s Centre

    On November 16, 2018 our Year 6 students demonstrated how they ‘Choose Respect’ and how to engage in Service Learning, under ‘Seeds of Hope’, by visiting Chongqing Normal University Children’s Centre. This trip also fits into the Year 6 topic titled ‘Human Rights and Opportunities’ which has just come to an end.

  • Anti-Bullying Week

    This week YCIS Chongqing students have been engaged in activities to celebrate Anti-Bullying Week.  Research shows that bullying is a behavior choice and as such we felt it vitally important to support our students in making the right choices.

  • Developing a Love of Writing in Year 4

    Should students have more break time? Is camping better than staying in a hotel? Should students have more homework? Should televisions be allowed in a child’s bedroom? Is eating hotpot better than eating a hamburger? Students of the Year 4 Learning Community weighed in on these topics and many others as they engaged in a rewarding time developing and applying their reasoning skills in a persuasive text.

  • University Guidance and the IB Diploma Programme

    On the afternoon of Wednesday October 31 we hosted 17 universities from the US for an information session on applying to the US and a university fair. The session was open to Year 10 - Year 12 students and any parents within our community who were interested in learning more about global university applications. This event was part of our ongoing university guidance program which has facilitated the visits of 28 universities from the UK, HK, US and Australia to our campus since August this year. It also marked our second information session of the year, the first being focused on applying to Korean Universities.

  • Primary Open Day

    On Thursday 8th November the primary school held an ‘Open Day’ for parents so that they could visit our learning communities and have the opportunity to see how we learn in these environments.  A session was held in the morning for parents to visit the Year 1 and Year 2 learning environments.  In the afternoon, parents were able to visit the Year 3 – Year 6 learning communities.  During the day parents were able to join with their children and engage in various learning experiences which included mathematics, writing, PE, music, art, violin, ….  Parents were also given further explanations about our ‘Phonics’ programme and our P4C (Philosophy for Children) initiative.

  • Ancient Egyptian Day

    Over the last 10 weeks, Year 3s have been learning about Ancient Egyptian Civilization for their study topic. They have explored the topic with excitement. The children have learnt about the location of Egypt, how the pyramids were built and why they are important, Pharaohs, Ancient Egyptian Gods, the importance of the River Nile, the process of mummification and much more. Through practical activities, research and home learning the children have thoroughly enjoyed learning about this topic.

  • Using Technology in Music

    In our Music programme, Lower Secondary students focus on listening, performing, and creating. They are encouraged to discern music from different styles, genres, and parts of the world.
