  • A Hike to Remember

    From October 22-26, our Year 8’s were the second year group to complete the physically and mentally challenging Dali hike. The hike involved three days of hiking along the old tea-horse road in the Flower Valley of Mt. Cangshan to an elevation of approximately 3100m. For reference, Chongqing is at an elevation of about 400m.

    In art lessons at YCIS Chongqing, our Upper Primary students develop their creativity and imagination through many activities. This programme builds on students’ skills and supports their improved use of materials, tools, and techniques. Students also explore the purpose and history of art and design at various periods and throughout a range of cultures.

  • Developing Visual Representations in Primary Mathematics

    Academic research and evidence is increasingly showing that using visual representations in mathematics is highly beneficial to students’ learning. Pictures help students see mathematical ideas, which aids understanding. Visual mathematics also facilitates higher-level thinking, enables communication and helps students see the creativity in mathematics.

  • Reliving YCIS Secondary Yangshuo Camp

    Early on the Monday, October 15, the Year 7s and Year 9s, totaling 60 students, plus 6 members of staff, embarked on a journey to camp in Yangshuo, Guilin. The six-day camp comprised of two days of travelling / settling, and four full days of activities.  The purpose of this camp was to provide students with valuable outdoors education, as well as developing them as individuals by growing outside the classroom.
