Let the Violin Sing and the Artwork Shine!
Congratulations to our Primary violinists and artists whose talents were on display at our Violin Concert and Art Exhibition on May 15.
Our students played beautifully in year groups, smaller ensembles and a range of solo performances. It was wonderful to see students as young as Year 1 handle their bows with flare to make their violins sing. Each year, we witness the improved skill development of students in each different year level, which is testament to the outstanding learning programme offered by Mr John Li and Ms Catherina Tang, supported by Ms. Cholpon Nazaraleava.
In the previous week, our teachers and students were delighted to welcome Mr Jeremy Williams, the Music Director, and Ms San Yun Williams, Head of Strings, from Yew Chung International Foundation in Hong Kong, who offered a Strings Master Class at YCIS Chongqing. Their expertise helped add some polish to each child’s performance, enabling them to achieve to their potential as they focused on specific skills and musical features associated with the different musical items.
This year, the Violin Programme was extended to include Year 4 students as well as over half the Year 5 and 6 students who joined Violin within the Enrichment Programme. This opportunity to extend and expand their skills was perfectly on show.
The Great Hall was also decorated with over 150 artworks produced by primary students, framed beautifully for students, teachers and parents to view this week. The range of techniques and artistic styles on show are a credit to the creative talents of our students and the outstanding art programme offered by Ms Catherine DeBoni. Ms DeBoni and Ms Solis (Secondary Art teacher), always have wall spaces around the campus adorned with the latest art productions from Year 1 – 13. Congratulations to all those students whose artwork was selected for display as a part of the Art Exhibition.
