    • On Wednesday November 8, 200 Primary parents arrived at the school gates, ready to experience a day of teaching and learning at YCIS Chongqing. Our Open Class Day allowed parents to engage in, experience and explore a real teaching day at YCIS Chongqing.

      Engage
Parents had an opportunity to engage in a regular timetable, with regular lessons, following regular classroom routines. The focus of each session was identified within the Open Day brochure, empowering parents to create their own agenda. For example, during lesson 1, parents interested in learning more about mathematics could choose to visit Year 4 (focus on statistics) or Year 5 (studying fractions). Parents could plan their day around their own interests.

      Experience
Open Class Day allowed parents the opportunity to experience what a school day is really like, through the eyes of their child. Each morning, many Parents wave goodbye to their child at the school gate and watch them disappear into their classroom…however, many wonder what happens next – where do they go? What do they do? How do they learn…? Our Open Class Day allowed our parents to accompany their child for a full day and observe them in their learning environment.

      Explore
Open Class Day empowered parents to explore other classrooms and specialist areas. Parents were encouraged to move across and between year levels, experiencing learning across the Primary programme. Parents of Year 1 students enjoyed the opportunity to join a Year 2 Phonics Lesson. Parents of students in K3 enjoyed the opportunity to join Upper Primary lessons – giving them an insight into different teaching and learning styles that suit older students. Parents joined music classes, P.E classes and even participated in our Dance and Drama class!

      Lunchtime performances
After sampling a canteen lunch on site, parents enjoyed a Lunchtime concert, led by our Primary students. The programme included a range of solo performers, musical ensembles and choir performances, as well as an articulate presentation from our Y1-Y6 Student Council Representatives.

      Any classroom, any time
The sun shone and our campus was alive with energy and enthusiasm for learning. It was truly a personalized experience - Any classroom, any time.

We look forward to future opportunities to welcome our parents to engage in teaching and learning at YCIS Chongqing.
