    • Recently, Yew Chung and Yew Wah students were invited to take part in a Creative Writing Competition. The competition was created and sponsored by the Yew Chung Education Foundation Curriculum and Professional Development Division in Hong Kong. This year, over 1300 students from across our foundation of schools took part. Twelve teachers from within those schools volunteered to judge the quality of the writing. On the announcement of the results, there were 49 honorable mentions and 5 winners across the four age groups. We are proud to share that 3 YCIS Chongqing students were among the honorable mention winners, these were Ryan Chen, Ruby Rao, Year 9 and Matthew Leano, Year 12.

Our students received recognition for all of their efforts during an online ceremony on Friday, June 11th . In a speech prepared by Dr. Betty Chan, our young writers were encouraged to continue to write. Dr. Chan reminded us that writing “provokes you to reflect, release and relieve. It can be an enrichment to your life and others.”

We enjoyed reading all of the submissions by our YCIS Chongqing students. As a way to recognise and congratulate our students, we have created a “wall of writing” which includes all stories submitted to this year’s competition. The stories will continue to be on display until the end of this year, in hopes that we can inspire story tellers of the future.
