    • Over the past few weeks, YCIS Chongqing, as the only fully accredited IGCSE school in Chongqing, has had the privilege of being part of a number of different interfaces with our IGCSE Examination Board / Awarding Body.

On Monday 18 March, Sophia Feng, Regional Manager for East Asia, visited our school, talk to us about the way in which we structure our curriculum, and to share ways in which she could support us with our work in providing qualifications to our students.

On Thursday 25 April, we hosted a delegation including Andrew Coombe (Acting Director of the International Network), Dr Jing Zhao (Regional Director for East Asia) and Sophia Feng. The visit started with a comprehensive tour of the school by Matthew Leano, Dahyeon Lee, Melisa Sener and Srividhya Srinivasan. The delegates were suitably impressed by the quality of conversations that the students engaged in, and the depth of their responses to questions.

On Saturday 27 April, we were invited to nominate two YCIS Chongqing students to take part in a Student Panel as part of the Cambridge International East Asia Schools Conference, held at Depu Foreign Language School in the Banan District of Chongqing. Srividhya Srinivasan (Year 12) and Matthew Leano (Year 10) were required to prepare responses to a series of questions about their views on their passions in school life, what they find challenging, skill-development, use of electronic devices, and the future. This was followed by a series of unknown questions from the floor. Both Matthew and Srividhya acquitted themselves superbly, leading to many of the 150-200 education professionals from all over China in the audience to comment on how eloquently and dynamically they answered the questions posed.

On this note, as we start the written examinations for Summer 2019 on Monday 29 April, this last month has been an impressive showcase of our school’s engagement with one of our important partners. We have shown ourselves in our best light, and look forward to more such opportunities going forward.
