Since 2010, YCIS Chongqing has been committed to the Charity Christmas Shoebox Drive for local schools during Christmas and Chinese New Year time period. This year, we will again sponsor a Charity Christmas Gift Bag Drive that collects requested items for school children who are in need.

These children have never experienced a Christmas and many have varying disabilities and come from families with limited resources. If you have spoken with any student who has travelled in past years to deliver these shoeboxes full of gifts, you will have heard of the immense joy this drive brings to these young children and the community they live in. We ask that all families consider donating new items to be put into each gift bag suitable for Primary children. This is an event that brings joy to many who both give and receive these gifts during the holiday season.

This year, our Seeds of Hope Schools will be Children’s Center in Daxuecheng and Yifu Primary School in Nanchuan. There are 132 students total in both schools. We are aiming to prepare a gift bag filled with useful items for each student while staff and students spend the day teaching English and playing games with them. Therefore, our goal is to prepare enough gift bags so that each student in that school can receive one.

Beginning December 19, there will be a wishing tree located in the School office filled with card ornaments that detail the information of each child in need. These cards will be green to represent male students and red to represent female students in each school. We ask that interested families choose a card to purchase the items needed for that child. Please come to the School Office and collect a card from the wishing tree. The seeds of Hope donation box will also be available in the School Office for those families that would prefer to donate money to purchase additional items for the students in these schools. We thank you for your assistance in this event this year.

As we all know, part of our school motto is Yew Chung will align with love and charity. The Christmas gift bag initiative is one way for us to share our love and charity with those who are less fortunate than us. The school has chosen reusable gift bags this year for students so you do not have to wrap it at all. Please place any purchased items along with the wishing tree card in the School Office no later than Monday January 14.

We will have our visit on January 18, 2019. All items are due by 14th of January, so hurry up and get busy shopping!!!
