Years 12-13 (ages 16-19)

At the core of YCIS Chongqing’s belief, lies the ideal that we wish to produce global citizens who will lead the world with a mixture of intelligence, compassion and cultural understanding. To support our students to develop into these leaders, students in Years 12 and 13 (Key Stage 5) at YCIS engage in a two-year course of study in a range of different subject areas.

All Year 12 and 13 students study the YCIS Diploma, which has at its core the International AS and A Levels curricula, designed by the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). Cambridge International AS and A Levels are internationally benchmarked qualifications that are taken in more than 125 different countries, providing excellent preparation for university education.

Cambridge International AS and A Level qualifications are widely recognised and valued by universities and employers alike. Some US universities give up to a year's credit as a result. Every year, thousands of Cambridge International A Level students gain places at top universities worldwide - including the UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand and Australia.

The YCIS Diploma, for 16 – 19 year olds, is at the heart of a YCIS Education and provides the all round education, character development, bilingual and bicultural focus, and global perspectives that students need for success in their lives. To further facilitate this success, YCIS Chongqing also seeks to provide Leadership Opportunities, a Community Service component, Global Issues Forums, Topic Papers on Global Issues in Year 12 and 13, a YCIS Thesis (3000-4000 words) in Year 13, Extracurricular Activities, University Preparation and University Guidance Counseling.

Students at YCIS are guided and challenged throughout to ensure that each and every student is capable of achieving to their highest possible standard in each subject. With a well thought out course design and a solid commitment to their studies, students enter University ready and equipped to face whatever their future will bring.
