Mr. Bo Xilai (Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee), Mr. Huang Qifan (Mayor of Chongqing), and Mr. Wu Jianong (Vice-Chairman of the Chongqing Municipal CPPCC and Director of the Administrative Committee of New Northern Zone) visited YCIS Chongqing on May 12. They toured our campus, classrooms and student’s music and sports activities. Mr. Bo highly commended our school's philosophy and curriculum, especially the Chinese culture and language programmes.
All staff and students of YCIS Chongqing spent great efforts on welcoming Mr. Bo's group. Yew Chung's local General Manager at YCIS Chongqing Mr. Simon Shu gave a detailed presentation on the school to the guests. The visit was organised by the New Northern Zone administration which has invested RMB 30 million yuan to improve the surrounding areas of the school, making our learning environment even better. According to press reports, the Central Government in early May approved Chongqing's plan to set up a state-level development zone which is designated as the door for the opening of China's western region. The new zone is especially important to attracting overseas investment, and YCIS Chongqing is located in the zone. International schools which cater for expatriate community play an active role in Chongqing's effort to upgrade its investment environment. |
