During April, the YCIS Chongqing Year 5/6 class travelled to Chengdu for a two-night, three-day excursion. This was the first ever overnight excursion for any class group out of the city and was ground-breaking in many respects.
The trip was packed with excitement. The group was entertained at a traditional Sichuan Opera house. The act was a story of a husband being bullied by a wife and it was amus
ing to the girls. The fire breathing, face-changing act had the boys sitting on the edge of their seats. The students also visited Dujianyan Irrigation Project. The tour involved walking along and across several rivers and canals. There were two suspension bridges and crossing them provided a whole new sensory experience for the students, which was one of the highlights of the trip. The students also went to Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Centre. The students wandered along bamboo-lined pathways to be entertained by giant pandas and red pandas. To quote the words of one of the students, "this was an awesome trip!" |
