| October 16 was the defining moment in Yew Chung's presence as an international education provider in Chongqing. The day celebrated the grand opening of YCIS Chongqing's new campus. Dignitaries from the Chongqing government, members of Yew Chung's Directorate, Co-Principals from the other YCIS as well as parents, teachers and students, shared the moment that heralded a promise of a brand new beginning.
The opening ceremony started with polished performances from our violinists, a hauntingly beautiful solo and our Junior Choir, ably set the tone for the show's grand finale--We are the World sung with feeling by the Secondary students and teachers, allowed us to glimpse into the future with shivers of excitement. Our children, some dressed resplendently in their traditional costumes, seized the occasion in voice and presence bringing joy to the hearts of their parents and teachers.
Director Dr. Better Chan Po-king outlined Yew Chung's unique education philosophy in her speech which served to crystallize the understanding of many in attendance.
With the Yew Chung flag raised and the school name unveiled at the campus front entrance, the School turned a new leaf.
The high dignity of the occasion was not lost on participants and visitors when the time came to enjoy a buffet lunch together. There were animated and happy conversations throughout the dining hall as people lived and enjoyed the moment.
This moment in history that we witnessed will live on fondly in the hearts and minds of the Yew Chung family who were there. The prospects are good for sustained growth and a relevant global education for our students. It was an important time that will truly be revealed as we move forward together.
