Chinese Language Curriculum
The Chinese Studies Programme emphasizes the pragmatic aspect of language as communication medium by using the "Family of characters approach to learning Chinese".  Yew Chung offers Chinese as First Language for students whose mother language is Chinese, as well as Chinese as Second Language for other students.

Chinese Culture
The Chinese Studies Programme includes both language and culture.  The primary language of instruction is Putonghua.  The teaching content includes: emphasis on folk culture, festivals, technology, history and art.

Chinese Putonghua
As part of the Chinese Studies Programme, the study of Putonghua is required in all levels of Primary School.  Emphasis is on training students' listening and speaking ability.  By studying different topics, students will be encouraged to listen and speak Putonghua.
